Nexen is now recruiting for the next ten scholarship recipients under our Yemen Scholarship Program.
Nexen is a firm supporter of education and as part of our commitment to giving back to our communities, we developed a post-secondary scholarship program to assist Yemeni students in advancing their educational attainment. Since 1998, we have awarded scholarships to 110 outstanding Yemeni students and the program will have 55 graduates by December 2009.
The scholarships are merit-based and cover all the costs of a four-year bachelor’s degree at the University of Calgary in numerous disciplines. Females and students from rural areas in Yemen are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is 4 pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. The ten recipients will be announced in January 2010.
The Nexen Yemen Scholarship Program began in 1997 after Nexen developed the Masila Project in central Yemen. Masila is one of Nexen’s major operations and has outperformed all expectations since it began producing in 1993.
